Trade Vote Postponed to September:
Volunteers and Donations Needed for August Activism!

Above: Signed petitions, letters, and children's drawings to Congress in opposition to anti-animal, anti-environmental trade agreements sorted by Congressional district.

With the threat of a July vote on the Panama, Colombia, and South Korea Free Trade Agreements looming, TradeJustice NY Metro activists addressed and sorted thousands of signed postcards by voters demanding that Congress and President Obama dump these animal-killing, environmentally disastrous trade agreements.*

Thankfully, gridlock in Congress prevented the agreements from coming to a vote before the August Congressional Recess. Congressional leaders and the White House are now planning a September vote.

With one month to go, we now need to:

  • dataenter all of the names and addresses of card signers so that we can.
  • call and email signers to urge them to call their Congressmembers.
  • count how many cards we've collected for each elected official.

  • make 4 copies of each card.

  • deliver the cards to Senators, Representatives, and the White House.
  • To do this, we'll need a great deal of volunteer assistance over the next few weeks. In other words, we need your help! You can either work from TradeJustice member group GJAE's office in Queens, NY or take cards home to dataenter and/or copy. If you live outside New York City, we can also mail you cards to datenter.

We also need donations to cover the costs of labor, copying, and travel to DC to ensure that we can finish this job in time for the September vote.

    Donate online:

or call us for details if you'd like to donate by cash or check.

The multinational Corporations that intend to use this agreement to expand their opportunities to profit from labor exploitation, enforcing patents that limit drug access for the poor, factory farming, and destruction of the Amazon rainforest are running a well-funded lobbying campaign to convince members of Congress to support these agreements. Your donations and volunteer time are the rock in our slingshot in this David vs. Goliath battle!
