Rangel Constituents for TradeJustice
13th Congressional District of New York
Welcome to the homepage of TradeJustice New York Metro's chapter for the 13th Congressional district of New York. Our group works to stop the passage of free trade agreements that undermine democracy, offshore jobs, undermine health, safety, animal welfare, and environmental regulations, contribute to human rights abuses, replace family farms with industrial scale factory farms and genetically modified foods, prevent needed regulations on the banking industry, and limit internet freedom and access to lifesaving generic drugs by expanding corporate intellectual property rights to an absurd degree. Currently, we are focusing on stopping the passage of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a 12 country free trade agreement described as "NAFTA on Steroids."
Our Congressional Representative is Charlie Rangel. As Congressman for New York's 13th District, Charlie Rangel represents Upper Manhattan and a small portion of the western Bronx. The district includes the neighborhoods of Harlem, Inwood, Marble Hill, Spanish Harlem, Washington Heights, Morningside Heights and portions of the Upper West Side. You can view a map of the 13th Congressional district here. We work to alert Representative Rangel's constituents to the threat posed by TPP and to encourage his to use his bully pulpit and influence among his Congressional colleagues to built resistance to a trade deal that will only advance the interests of the 1% - at the expense of the rest of us!
