City NOT Global Governance
How
Fast Tracking Global Trade Agreements takes the NY Say out of NYC
Global trade agreements that are “Fast
Tracked” through Congress, like the Trans-Pacific Partnership
(TPP), harm us in ways we don’t know about until it is too
late. Like NAFTA, the TPP will outsource jobs, hurt our environment,
threaten food safety and access to medicines, limit internet freedom
and roll back recent Wall St. regulations. The “investor-state”
provision will also severely limit our rights as New Yorkers to pass
laws and reforms as we see fit. If we do, we could be sued by large
corporations for damaging their “future expected profits.”
