TradeJustice activists called on Rep. Maloney, pictured above, to defend people with AIDS from pharmaceutical company greed.
On Sunday, June 24, 2011, TradeJustice activists flyered and petitioned in the West Village to challenge Representative Carolyn Maloney, one of two NYC Congressmembers participating in the 42nd Annual LGBT Pride March that day, to oppose trade agreements with Colombia, South Korea, and Panama that include intellectual property rules that will limit access to generic drugs for people with AIDS and others in need of lifesaving medications. The activists' effort was well received -- within a few hours they had not a single card left to be signed or flyer left to hand out.
