About the Presenters:

Lauren Waugh is a recent graduate of Columbia Law School’s LLM program where she focused on international law, development and governance. She graduated from Columbia Law School as a James Kent Scholar and a recipient of a Parker School Certificate for Achievement in International and Comparative Law. Before undertaking the LLM program she worked at Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia and Fiji, and for the Australian Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws with first class honours from Australian National University.

Jaybee Garganera is currently the National Coordinator of Alyansa Tigil MIna (Alliance to Stop Mining) or ATM in the Philippines. He was a co-convenor of the alliance since it was founded in 2005. Before going full-time in the mining campaign work, he used to head a rural development network and is one of the civil soceity representatives to the Phlipine Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD). Part of his responsbilities in coordinating the campaign against desructuve large-scale mining in the Philippines include engaging a national platforms on indigenous peoples, clmate justice and revenue transparency. He is sitting as a board or steering committee member on several of these CSO formations.
